Writing a Resume Without Work Experience
Writing a Resume Without Work ExperienceWriting a resume without work experience is not easy. The Internet has been the savior for this job seeker. Job seekers can now get jobs without having any work experience and thus can focus on what they do best, which is a job search.Job searches are tricky. To a lot of job seekers it does seem like an easy task to choose the right company to work for. But if you don't have a lot of work experience and don't have the patience to make yourself marketable to a lot of companies, this can be a problem. Job searches, especially for online jobs, often require a lot of research and even with that comes the risk of not landing the right job.Instead of thinking about this, people should focus on how to avoid making their resume look bad. This requires the knowledge of how to craft a resume, so that it stands out from the rest of the people who are trying to write a resume. If you want to excel in writing a resume, the main thing you should remember is that there are certain key elements that you should know. You need to be able to keep it professional and factual. In order to make your resume stand out from the others, you should make sure that your resume does not contain work experience. This will confuse the employer, and he or she will probably wonder why you were hired. The key is to keep it formal and professional at all times. Your resume should not be stuffy, either, since it may reflect poorly on you if your resume is too formal. Some people find it difficult to write a resume without work experience. They are stuck with a job search mentality, and they have trouble coming up with something fresh and original. But a resume that doesn't contain work experience will be labeled as 'cookie cutter' or atypical job search resume. This is something that will not attract an employer's attention. It is also important that your resume be specifically designed for job searches. There is no point in crafting a resume that may be of use to other types of job searching. A resume should highlight your skills and abilities as a prospective employee, not show off your weaknesses. When you are looking for a job, it is important to consider not only the career but also the career field. Consider whether the field would be suitable for you, or if it is something that you are just not suited for. If it is something that you aren't suited for, then maybe you need to search elsewhere. You should also consider what type of career you would like to have. Does this match your career aspirations?Even when you're working online, you should still include information about your resume. A resume is a vital document that you should keep a copy of. Besides, some employers prefer to have a resume attached to an applicant's application. When you show your resume online, it will be more interesting and it will also appear more professional.

On the Job by Anita Bruzzese Sexual Harassment Verdict Against Thomas Proves Problems Still Exist in the Workplace Today
On the Job by Anita Bruzzese Sexual Harassment Verdict Against Thomas Proves Problems Still Exist in the Workplace Today While on the job, she claimed he called her bitch and ho among other things, and after a year and a half of such treatment, she decided she had had enough and sued for sexual harassment. She was fired. It a widely publicized case, Anucha Browne again showed us that the workplace is not always fair in its treatment of employees. She has been awarded a whopping $11.6 million in punitive damages $2 million more than she asked for in a sexual harassment case against New York Knicks head coach Isiah Thomas.Browne, a former team executive, said that Thomas hugged her, kissed her on the cheek and invited her to leave the office to mess around all of which Browne did not welcome and made her feel uncomfortable. For his part, Thomas claims he is still innocent . But during a break in the legal proceedings weeks ago, Thomas was asked by a reporter if he would find it offensive for a black male to call a black woman a bitch. Thomas responded: Not as much and Im sorry to say, I do make a distin ction.Well, Thomas has just learned that a jury of his peers doesnt agree with his sentiments.Perhaps now is a good time for everyone to take a step back and think about behavior and sexual harassment in the workplace. While women are often advised that pursuing claims of harassment may be more than they bargained for (look at how Browne lost her job after reporting claims), men argue that the boundaries of proper behavior are too blurry and they have a hard time keeping up with what they can and cannot do.I once interviewed a sexual harassment expert, and she gave me some tips that I think provide a good roadmap for proper behavior, and what can get you into trouble on the job:Do you kid around in a sexual way?Do you generally direct your humor to members of the opposite sex?Do you tell racy jokes no matter who is listening?Do you think members of the opposite sex are less able than you are?Do you frequently make remarks about how people look?Do you use obscene language when things go wrong?Do you tend to touch people when you talk to them?Do you make comments that are a put-down to one gender?Do you ignore the nos when asking someone for a date until you get a yes?Do you use sexual comments and gestures to intimidate people or gain power?Do you ignore conduct that you really think could be sexual harassment? As Browne said, I think it really is a wake-up call to those in a professional working environment, to those that are not civil, to let women know they have recourse. All Moms, Professional or Stay-at-Home, Want to be Celebrated
All Moms, Professional or Stay-at-Home, Want to be Celebrated May is here! Time to buy mom some flowers! Flowers are universal. They speak the same language across the country and around the world. There is no bad day to give or receive the gift of flowers. They are special any time. But on a day like Mothers Day, they can mean the world to some very special people in our lives. Why do flowers have such an emotional impact? Why do they matter so much to so many women? Im no geneticist, but Im pretty sure women are not born with a special gene that makes us get emotional around flowers. They say women can see more colors. So perhaps they are more capable of seeing the inherent beauty of flowers. But that doesnt explain the strength of the reactions from women who receive flowers on special occasions. I believe the difference is more nurture than nature. Culturally, almost all of the special times in a womans life are marked by flowers. Consider the following list: boyfriends a first date sweet 16 graduation weddings the birth of a child apologies the passing of a loved one a new home and so much more. Many of these things happen on multiple occasions in a womans life. That list does not even include flower-rich holidays like Valentines Day. For some women, every important event in their lives is marked by flowers. Now consider this a memory can be powerfully triggered by sights and scents. The look or smell of a particular flower at a particular time can send us as far back as the moment of our first love! So when you are choosing a flower to give your mom make sure that it represent your personality so it would be hard not to remember you every time she sees this kind of flower! Once youve dedicated to give the gift of flowers, go all out. Dont bother giving anything cheap or fake. Flowers represent a certain essence of life. The appearance, textures and smells must be authentic. This is especially true in a city like Las Vegas where everything is only a copy of the real thing. In a place like that, you want to take extra care to choose the freshest cuts available. It is worth doing a little research before you order. Whether for someone elses special day, or flowers for a job well done, It is worth getting the best you can get. We should not be insensitive to the fact that Mothers Day is often an occasion for sadness and depression, especially for women professionals who are childless, and whos mother is no longer with them. If you happen to be among the thousands in that category. there are some things you can do to participate in the spirit of the holiday. It is a mistake to fall into the pattern of thinking that the only women who get to celebrate Mothers Day are Women with children in a nuclear family. That limitation is meaningless. The sooner we let it go, the better! First of all, everyone has a mother. She may no longer be with us; but she helped to shape the person we are today. That is worth some remembrance. You might be the mother of a child who is too young to appreciate Mothers Day. Perhaps you have no partner to shower you with flowers. That is no excuse for you to ignore yourself. This article on loving ones self points out how difficult yet important it is for women to learn to love themselves and celebrate their own accomplishments. Even Valentines Day does not have to be national pity party day for unattached women. Mothers Day is also a good time to take a step back and acknowledge other women who are mothers, especially those tackling it on their own while balancing a profession. A gift of flowers and a word of encouragement and respect from you will go a long ways. Mother or not, we can all participate in the human celebration of motherhood. Man or woman, mother or child, flowers just make the celebration even better.

Resume Tips 2020 - How to Improve Your Resume
Resume Tips 2020 - How to Improve Your ResumeAs the economy has deteriorated and the unemployment rate has remained high, employers are starting to consider more for the value of resumes. One of the things they look for is why you want to become employed and how you can contribute to the business. The following resume tips 2020 will give you insight on how you can make your resume stand out among the rest.o The first thing to remember when writing a resume is to get a lot of information on your subject. With today's fast paced world, you may find yourself moving at a lightning pace, so be prepared to address some details that you just can't leave out. You also don't want to just skim through some information and put it all together.o Identify what information you want to cover and prioritize them. It is wise to have the most important information first and then work down the list of all the other information you want included. This way, if you can't include something in your resume t hat's urgent you can catch up on it later. But, if you're looking for some information that doesn't need to be included in your resume, you can skip it.o Your resume should not be too wordy and it must not be confusing. Remember, your resume will be presented to three different people. While these people are your future employer, a previous employer, and a friend or family member, each person will be viewing your resume for the first time. So, make sure to include your most important information first, move down the list of more important information, and leave out any information that isn't important or isn't relevant to your future employer.o When writing the person's name at the top of your resume, make sure you include your full name. If you don't write your full name, there is a good chance you won't be called for an interview. Also, the company's name should be written right below the name of the person who is calling you for an interview.o Include contact information on your resume. Make sure to include your email address, cell phone number, and home phone number. By doing this, you'll know how to reach you if you were to need to contact you after your employment has been completed. It's a good idea to include a physical address on your resume as well, but it should only be listed if it is relevant to the position that you are applying for.o Work in an industry that you have a love for. If you're interested in a certain industry, make sure you list that fact on your resume.Using resume tips 2020 will help you enhance your resume as well as getting more interviews. By following these tips, you'll be able to have the perfect resume written and ready to present in your next job interview. Do you feel culture shock in your new job - Hire Imaging
Do you feel culture shock in your new job - Hire Imaging Just last month I headed on a birthday adventure from my stomping grounds in Minnesota to Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam. It was my first time in Europe, and I wanted to immerse as much as possible. I also wanted to be the ideal visitor. Well, Iâm thrilled to say that my experience was so wonderful that I cannot wait to go back. That doesnât mean it went without a hitch. And it was a new experience. I tried hard not to be any sort of stereotypical American visitor. I got frustrated with myself when I didnât know the language. I learned that when you leave a store, you should always acknowledge a good-bye and thanks, even if you only window shopped. And this was just cutting the surface. Itâs common to experience culture shock when starting a new position. Itâs not unlike many of the feelings those who visit or move to new cultures have. By definition, culture shock is the feeling of insecurity and apprehension one may feel in a new environment. Standards, behaviors and protocol that we take for granted may well be different. My client Julie recently experienced angst when she transitioned from a small startup business of 30 total staff, to a large global corporation. Yes, sheâd researched her employer and the job. But there are some things one finds out when one has been there. Thatâs the way it is with travel. Thatâs the way it is with jobs. I definitely see parallels with my trip and a few of my clientsâ experiences in jumpstarting new job success. · Be open-minded Her first day on the job, Julie found herself armed with what felt like a zillion things to remember. Policy manual. Job description. Customer files. Instructional binders. Sure, she felt overwhelmed. But she kept a mindset that they gave her only what would help her. She approached a mentor colleague and her direct supervisor to ask how they felt these things should be prioritized. They were happy to help. And she whittled away until she absorbed the new information. If she didnât get the gist of something, she asked. And slowly but surely, a picture was painted on the whats, whos, whens, hows and whys of things. Ah-hah! · Make an effort to see below the surface After 15 years with a global non-profit, Dan found himself back in his hometown (his choice) working for a community outreach organization. Culture shock? Oh, yes. On his first day, he realized (someone told him for his own benefit) that he had offended a regular customer to the food shelf. When Dan had greeted the man with âHow are you?â, he meant only âhelloâ. The man on the receiving end interpreted it as a genuine interest in how he was doing. It did not set well when Dan proceeded to turn his back and go about his business without waiting for a reply. Donât assume you know the culture. It may not always be as evident as the above scenario. Expert and psychologist Geert Hostede wrote that âculture is like an onion that can be peeled, layer by layer, to reveal the content.â Sometimes it takes a long time to really understand and know a culture. One of the best ways to get to know the culture is to know the people. Respectfully ask questions, read everything about the company you can get your hands on, and participate in as many events and activities as you can. · Keep (or get) a sense of humor While youâre adjusting to a new organization, mistakes may happen. Peter felt like crawling under his desk when during the second week on a new job, he was asked to go get a male colleague up several floors. He went into the ladiesâ restroom by mistake. Mary tripped on the stairs her first day, and fell in front of her boss. Jeanie called her new boss by her old bossâ name. Barryâs oops was more subtle. He thought he would order in pizza for his new team. Turns out that role was already taken by someone who felt it to be her turf. Stuff happens. If you make a cultural or other gaffe, laugh at yourself. Others will likely laugh too. It makes you human. People like human. And according to a recent survey of CFOs by Acountemps, 80 percent of chief financial officers (not always considered the most humorous of roles), felt that a personâs sense of humor was important in fitting in with corporate culture. Sometimes, a little levity goes a long way toward salvaging your confide nce, building rapport among colleagues and diffusing workplace tension. Donât expect to immediately understand or fit with a new organizational culture. But donât ignore the situation either. Give it your best. Keep working at it. And I believe that keeping in mind the two Rsâ"results and relationshipsâ"will ramp up your success with a new employer culture. Ask questions as to what your new employerâs needs are. Pay attention to those windows of opportunity. Deliver results. Document those results. Get to know everyone in the picture. Your peers. Your supervisors. Your clients. Your vendors. Act with integrity. Give back. Be human. That foreign culture will feel like home. Photo: Alex E. Proimos
